What are the benefits of Third-Party Inspections in China?

Third-Party Inspections in China provide international companies buying products from China with the ability to send in independent people to check that the goods they are sourcing from a supplier in China meet their requirements and expectations. The benefits to the company are cost reduction in quality failure, lost sales and the cost of disposal of faulty or non-conforming products.

Third-Party Inspections provide clients with Quality Control services in three core areas within the Sourcing and Manufacturing process:

  • Review Inspections – Check the products for defects before they leave a Supplier in China.
  • Process Inspections – If there are ongoing quality issues relating to goods from a Supplier in China. Inspectors can visit the Supplier when products are being made to investigate the causes of these issues in the production process and suggest remedies to fix the problems.
  • Preventative Inspections – Inspectors verify the legitimacy of suppliers and their production process. They also can review those who are supplying the raw materials which will be used to make your products.

So, the most common Inspections for each of these states are:

Review Inspection

Process Inspection

Preventative Inspection

So, what is the best type of quality control inspection in China?

The best type of quality control inspection in China is the inspection service that answers your questions or helps to fix any issues or problems you are having with a product or Supplier in China.

For folks sourcing standard products from a supplier they make regularly, the Review Inspections would be the most suitable type of inspection. These inspections focus on checking goods for defects or ensuring that the correct quantities are shipped.

For firms sourcing goods for the first time or are sourcing bespoke products, they should also consider using quality control inspections in the Process Inspections category.

This category is also beneficial for those who are having difficulties or difficulty with communicating with their Supplier in China. Having a third-party inspector visit a supplier to review and discuss the process does help to overcome many issues which international buyers often experience.

Due Diligence is part of many firms’ risk reduction processes. Preventative Inspections are a category of inspections which enable firms to carry out independent checks or assessments of their Supplier or Customers in China. Many firms can avoid wasting good money on suppliers who are not suitable or customers who are unable to meet expected requirements.

Why do some say Third-Party Inspections in China have no benefits?

There are many reasons why you might hear people say they believe that Third-Party Inspections in China have no benefits. So, the first question these people should be asked is if they have used inspections and where they found the inspector. Frequently, the inspector is not from a reputable professional inspection company, or the person may have used a friend or a friend’s friend in China to check their goods.

Some companies and people often view Quality Control and using a third-Party inspection firm as an expense that should be minimized. So many will use the cheapest independent inspector instead of an international professional inspection firm such as Goodada Inspections. Individual inspectors are often inexperienced, struggle to provide clients with the required service and do not have the support services that clients need.

Additionally, many of those who have previously experienced issues with inspections may have selected the most appropriate and suitable inspection service. For example, some people will often try to save money by choosing a Container Loading Inspection instead of a Finished Goods. Or they may not use a Supplier Audit before booking an order with a Supplier. Then when an inspection is done on the products, they fail due to poor quality supervision during the Production process.

Does having Third-Party Inspections in China mean I get zero defects?

The short answer is no. Third-Party Inspections in China should be seen as part of a process which aims to reduce the chances of defective or poor-quality products coming from a Supplier in China. Third-Party Inspections are visual. So, if defects are in the materials or areas where the inspector cannot check, then there is a chance of defects appearing.

So, to avoid defects, firms should have a proper document production process which highlights the types of materials to be used to make the product. Additionally, the process should also outline the quality control checks which should be taking place across the entire production process.

So, do I have to recruit a Full-time QC Inspector in China?

Many companies outsource their Quality control inspections to third-party Inspection firms. It is often the most efficient and cost-effective option for companies. It quickly allows them to have experienced inspectors. Avoids costly recruitment and managing of staff and adds flexibility to a company’s supply chain so they can source products from China or another country and still use the same third-party inspection firm. Firms such as Goodada Inspections provide inspections in over 76 countries.
